Dialup Questions

What are these Shared/Roamable numbers?

These are numbers that are unique to us. We have contracted through vendors such as Electric Lightwave, O1 Communciations and WorldNet to purchase ports in many cities nationwide. These numbers we add to all the networks locations lists for additional redundancy nationwide. By having these additional numbers, we can give you an additional choice so you can choose the number that is the fastest for you, provide service in a few areas that the backbones cannot and also, make it so that if the backbone network goes down, we have additional numbers that you can dial. We believe that this provides a great value added service for our customers.

One common question we get is about the limitations on these numbers. All Accounts are limited to 150 hours. But, the unique part of my access is that you may access any major network on our system just by changing the telephone number. You are not limited to just the network you signed up on. We only sell the service as 4 major networks, but you can access any one or all of them with the same account with us. It acts like one service.

How is the Starnet ISDN hours calculated?

Starnet ISDN accounts are limited to 150 channel hours per month. If a user logs on once as an ISDN user during the month, they become "limited" even if they log on analog for the rest of the month. We have no control over this issue and must pass along the Starnet policies on calculating these hours and limitations.

Can you get a POP in my area?

Unfortunately we do not control the areas that we service. We are not in the business of bringing up new locations. We just resell Starnet, UU.net, Qwest and Aleron services. Should one of our backbones launch your area in the future, you will be given access to it.

What are the dial-up DNS server IP's?

The dial-up DNS servers can be left at server assigned. If your customer has a router or a Mac OS computer than they may be required to enter them in. Listed below is the DNS server IP's for each network:

Network Primary DNS Secondary DNS
ALL 209.210.176.8 209.210.176.9
